How to Design Your Team Kit

Designing a custom team kit should be exciting, not intimidating. With the right approach and a few clear decisions, you can create a kit that your squad will be proud to wear — and that looks just as good from the stands as it does on the pitch. Here's a step-by-step guide to the process.

Step 1: Choose Your Product

Start by deciding what your kit needs to include. A full match-day set typically means a shirt, shorts, and socks. Most clubs also add training wear — training shirts or vests — and sideline pieces like hoodies and caps. Pick the product type first, because size guides and available options vary by garment.

Step 2: Set Your Colours

Every custom kit is built from three colour roles: the base (the dominant body colour), the secondary (sleeves, panels, and contrast blocks), and the accent (trims, collars, and stripes). Think of these as your three tools — every design decision flows from how you combine them.

A good rule of thumb: keep your base and secondary in contrasting tones so the pattern reads clearly, and use your accent to tie everything together. If your club has official colours, map them to these three roles. Don't be afraid to experiment — with a live preview, you can try combinations instantly.

Step 3: Pick a Pattern

A solid base colour is classic, but patterns add personality. Common options include:

  • Hoops — horizontal bands, a rugby classic
  • Chevrons — dynamic V-shapes for a modern look
  • Geometric — bold, contemporary patterns
  • Split — two-tone halves for strong contrast

Step 4: Add Personalisation

This is where your kit becomes yours. Add your team name across the chest, player numbers on the front and back, and upload your club crest or sponsor logo. The text colour automatically adjusts for contrast against your base, so names and numbers stay readable no matter what colours you've chosen.

Step 5: Assign Squad Sizes

Add each player to your squad list with their name, number, and size. Each product type has its own size guide — check the measurements before you commit, especially if you're ordering for a mix of body types.

Step 6: Review and Order

Before you checkout, review the full breakdown: product, colours, pattern, personalisation, squad, and price. Check both the front and back preview. Once you're happy, add to cart and proceed to checkout. Production takes 3-4 weeks, and your kit ships worldwide via DHL or SF Express.

Pro tip: If you're ordering for the first time, start with a single shirt to confirm the fit and colours, then place the full squad order once you're confident.
